The workshops require basic sight reading skills and a rudimental knowledge of the elements of music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCOPE:<\/strong> Musical swing drumming, including reading, interpreting and improvising within the Big Band format.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing the &#8220;Basie groove&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Time and dynamic consistency<\/li>\n<li>Articulation and voicing \u2013 &#8220;getting a good sound&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Figure interpretation and improvisation<\/li>\n<li>Learning &#8220;what not to play&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Setting up fills and accents<\/li>\n<li>Counting techniques &#8211; knowing the &#8220;natural pulse&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Soloing within a chart<\/li>\n<li>Independence systems and concepts<\/li>\n<li>Practical tips on CDs, books and songs that can be applied to advance skills quickly<\/li>\n<li>Auditioning tips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please send an email with your questions and provide a brief description of your musical background if you wish.
